Anne Methot, formerly of Wexford, Ireland, died peacefully on July 21st in her 92nd year at Agecare Westbury care home. Devoted wife of the late Gerry Methot. Predeceased by her siblings Jim, Robert, and Matt Byrne. Anne will be sadly missed by the Methot and Byrne families including her nephews and nieces: Seán, Kevin, Noel, Mattie and Francis, Catherine, Robert, and Margaret and extended family and very dear friends. Anne is predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Catherine (née Gahan) Byrne of Ballinakill, Courtown, Gorey, Co. Wexford, Ireland. Anne moved to Toronto, Canada and worked for many years in the Queensway General Hospital. Anne was a Counsellor with the City of Etobicoke for a term. Anne cared devotedly for her brother Jim in later years and was very involved in her local Catholic Church, the Nativity of Our Lord, and later St. Clements. Anne really enjoyed her holidays in Ireland and catching up with family and friends and loved having people out to Canada.

The family are very grateful to the staff and carers who so kindly tended to Anne at the Kingsway Retirement Home (2012 to 2018) and at Age Care Westbury (2018 to 2024) and friends who supported Anne so much, and in her later years in suffering with Alzheimer’s, in particular Breda Walshe and Jo Byrne. May she rest forever in God’s peace.

Aunt Anne was a lovely lady. She made a good life for herself in Canada but never forgot her Irish roots, as they were very close to her heart. She was great to Uncle Jim also. May she rest in peace.

A fond farewell to our dear Aunt Anne. Having spent many years in Canada, Anne never forgot her Irish roots back home in Wexford. Like many Irish of her generation, Anne built a new home and a very successful life in Canada. She was blessed with great family and friends both in Canada and in Ireland. Religiously Anne made her annual journey home to ensure her beloved links with home and family always remained strong., creating life long fond memories. God Bless Anne on your final journey. Rest in Peace. Fran Byrne

Anna Methot (Sister-in-law)

I first met Anne doing midwifery in Scotland and we shared a flat there, and then in Loughlinstown County Dublin and then in Toronto, Canada. Anne was a good friend and a great hostess. She loved to entertain and she especially loved a party and had many everywhere we lived.

When we were in Ireland we visited many of her friends and relatives around Gorey, and she had many. She bought herself a home in Ireland which she and her brother visited regularly.

I have some great memories of some wonderful times together. Anne will be very happy to see Gerry and be united with her brothers. May she rest in peace.
