In Celebration of

Ann O'Grady

August 24, 1936 -  October 28, 2022

On Friday, October 28th, 2022, Ann Mary O’Grady (nee Sullivan) passed away peacefully with her family at her side. She died as she lived, with quiet dignity, grace, and strength. She bravely faced her cancer and fought it on her own terms. Ann was the daughter of Elizabeth and John Sullivan. She treasured her relationships with her, parents, older brother Mervin (Jenny), and younger sister Claire (Glenn). Ann was the beloved wife of the late Myles O’Grady. We know that Myles, her parents, Claire and Mervin have welcomed her into heaven with the hugs she has so missed. She was the loving, and much loved mother of Patricia (Ron Bourque), Elizabeth (Mike Allems), Elaine (John Baker), Shawn, and Michael (Justine). She was the cherished grandmother of Andrew (Kate), Neil (Maureen), Laura (Brad), Nicole (John), Travis (Elizabeth), Sarah (Liam), Matthew (Kirsten), Jacqueline (Brandon), Curtis (Courtney), M.J. (Jess), Heather (John Mark) and great-grandmother to Noah. Ann loved her life. She came from a town she held near and dear to her heart, Kirkland Lake, where her story began. She treasured the memories of her extended family and friends growing up in Kirkland Lake. She made friends wherever she went and had a gift of keeping her friends close regardless of the distance between them. It was her strength and faith in God that carried her through both the joyous and difficult times. She lived her faith with compassion, generosity and a willingness to help and serve others. Her devotion to the rosary was a steadfast anchor in her daily life. She has happy memories of her work at London Life, The Hamilton Catholic School Board, the Peel Public School Board, in particular Erindale High School and St. Francis of Assisi Church. Ann happily lived her last year at the Wenleigh Long Term Care Home where she had volunteered for many years. She loved participating in all activities but especially liked sitting in the sun in the court yard, playing bingo and winning boxes of Kleenex and chips, having tea and cookies, taking walks, colouring, doing puzzles, and befriending all who she encountered. She will be forever missed and thought of often with loving and warm memories by all who knew her.
