In Celebration of

Anita Luisa Bandiera (Nee Valvasori)

July 1, 1940 -  May 1, 2025

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother Anita Luisa Bandiera (Nee Valvasori) on May 1st, 2025 following her brave and hard-fought battle with Breast Cancer.

Preceded by her husband Remo Bandiera, Anita was a loving and proud mother to Victor (Paula Nee Laberge), Katherine (deceased 2018) and Caroline (Adam Grnak) and a devoted Nonna to Remi, Jake, Wade, Gianna and Shay. Loving daughter of Maria (Angelo deceased) and warmly remembered by her sisters, Diana and Angela (Ron Ahle) and extended family.

Anita will forever be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. More than a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, Anita was the heart of our family. A guiding light, she brought us together with her gentle strength, quiet grace, and unconditional love.

She had a rare gift: the ability to make everyone feel welcomed and cherished. Anita reminded us all that love doesn’t need to be loud to be deeply felt. Her legacy is one of compassion, generosity, and a deep-rooted sense of family—a legacy that will continue in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find solace knowing she is reunited with our sister Katherine and husband Remo and is continuing to watch over us with her ever-gentle smile.

Friends are invited to visit Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas Street West (At Burnhamthorpe Road in Etobicoke ON), on Monday May 5th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory’s Roman Catholic Church, 122 Rathburn Road (At Kipling Ave in Etobicoke ON), on Tuesday, May 6th, at 11:00 a.m.

The family wishes to thank for Dr Philippe Bedard, Dr. Ernie Mak and NP Jacqueline Seville at Princess Margaret Hospital and the Palliative team at Circle of Care and Dorothy Ley Hospice for their compassionate and exceptional home care.

Donations in memory of our mom and in lieu of flowers can be made to: Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation or Dorothy Ley Hospice.

I knew Anita, although not very well. But I knew she was a gem. The world is a lesser place in her absence.
Please accept our heartfelt sympathies for this loss to the Bandieras.

I am so very sorry to hear of Anita's passing. I always remembered her as a warm, gentle, loving and compassionate person. I cherish many memories of the times I spend during the summer holidays on the farm with her, Diana and her mom and dad. Although I hadn't seen her in a number of years, did speak with her upon learning of Katherine's passing and she did reach out to me when my son, Michael passed away in 2020. May she rest in eternal peace and her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her. My sincere condolences to all her family.
