Anibal Ferreira Pinto, known to his friends and family as “Cuca” or “Pinto”, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 12, 2020. His strong will to live, unwavering faith in God and the love and prayers of family, friends and many supporters carried him through his valiant battle with cancer.

Anibal was born on October 6, 1945 in Benguela, Angola. He spent his adolescence playing professional soccer and eventually enrolled in the military. During this time, he met the love of his life, Helena. They married and had four children together. After wanting a better life for his family, they moved to Canada in 1989. Anibal worked as an electrician by trade and was known by all for his kindness, compassion and humour. Anibal loved spending time with his family and friends especially when there was music and dancing involved. He was recognized often by his many caps and his faithful companion, Charlie. Anibal spent hours every day walking Charlie, greeting the neighbors along his walk-route and giving special “treats” to all of the dogs and birds he called his “friends”.

Anibal is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Helena, and children Claudia, Muna (spouse Stefan) and Ben (spouse Begona); grandchildren Zaiid, Idriss, Ilyas, Noah, Lily and Penelope and many other family members. Anibal was preceded in death by his daughter Sandra. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support in many heartfelt forms from too many people to name individually.

Anibal will be interned at Glen Oaks Cemetery in the “Remembrance section” at Glen Oaks Cemetery at 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville, Ontario. Due to current restrictions with COVID-19, please attend at a later date.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date.

In Anibal’s memory, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
