In Celebration of

Angela Mary Townshend

March 23, 1921 -  June 15, 2023

With broken hearts, and in the loving arms of her family, our matriarch passed away in the early morning of June 15, 2023. Angela was born March 21, 1921, in Toronto, and named after her older sister, Angeline, who passed away at age 4. Mom was the youngest daughter of, and was predeceased by her parents, Rocco and Teresa Ciccarelli, and her six siblings: Luigi ``Pete``, Catherine, Angeline, Anthony ``Chick``, Nora, and James. Beloved by her husband, Herbert, (predeceased, 1971), cherished by her children, Elizabeth, John (Sylvia), Marlene (Richard),and Paul (Nadia, predeceased), adored by her grandchildren, Jeannine (Brent), Richard (Jen), Michael (John), Melissa (Andrew), Rebecca, Sarah (Tony), Matthew, David, and Emma, and deeply loved by her great-grandchildren, Hayden, Bridget, Ethan, Keira, Kate, Warner, Logan, and Ava. Mom`s life was dedicated to her family. She was loved by many nieces, and nephews, especially Bob, who was devoted to her. She also leaves behind caring neighbours from Martin Grove Rd., where she resided for sixty years. All who knew Mom, respected her for her easy-going nature, selflessness, positive attitude, and strength of character.
For several years, Mom was a stay-at-home mom raising and completely involved in her children`s lives. Later, she worked alongside Herbert in the family business, juggling her time between family and work. Devastated by the loss of the love of her life, and after her children left the nest, Mom made a life for herself: tending her fruit and vegetable garden, travelling, volunteering at Eatonville Care Centre, enjoying TSO concerts and most importantly to her, spending time with and caring for her grandchildren, who fondly and especially recall playing card games, eating cookies and drinking tea with Grandma. Mom was a woman of great faith, a champion bowler, super at euchre, cribbage, every kind of puzzle, and an avid Blue Jays fan, never missing a game until she lost her sight the last four years of her life. Mom loved music, and in the early and lonely days of covid, comforted herself by singing.
Devoted to her family, memories of Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma will be in our hearts forever. She will be missed more than words can tell, never forgotten.
Many thanks to the staff at Toronto Western Hospital, who cared for Mom during and after her recovery from covid this spring. Deepest gratitude to the palliative care team at Villa Colombo, for their dedication and attentiveness to Mom`s physical and emotional needs during these last two months.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W. , Etobicoke, (between Islington and Kipling Aves.) on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Peace Church Church, 3914 Bloor St. W., Etobicoke on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11 a.m. Interment at Mount Peace Cemetery, 3204 Cawthra Rd., Mississauga.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Villa Colombo Toronto or The Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
