In Celebration of

Ana Maderic

March 4, 1939 -  July 22, 2022

It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Ana Maderic (Cimera), at home on Friday, July 22, 2022 at the age of 83.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph Maderic. Devoted mother to Robert (Elizabeth), Dijana (Adrian) and Katarina (Mark). Cherished grandmother of Natalie (Garrett), Vanessa, Maja and Luka. Beloved great-grandmother to Ava. Ana is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her sisters Luce, Slavica and Dragica, and by her nieces, nephews and extended family.

Just after WWII and at a very young age, Ana, along with her family, left their home to embark on a better and brighter future. This journey brought them to Italy and then Chile (where she met her first and only love - her future husband Joseph). Soon after, her family made their last immigration stop to Canada and settled in Toronto where Joseph followed and reunited with Ana and married.

With three languages under her belt and learning a fourth by the age of 19, she worked in her trade as a seamstress until the birth of her second child. Ana had many creative talents; from pottery, cooking and baking, she was exceptionally talented in embroidery and needlepoint. Ana produced beautiful pieces of work which is appreciated and cherished by her family.

A highly social and engaging person, she loved music, get togethers, laughter and dancing (which she was great at!). Her smile, her warmth, her energy, her love for life, family, and friends will always be remembered.

Although Ana had many physical health challenges throughout her life, she always had the spirit, strength and perseverance to push through and come out on the other end – a survivor. Her husband called her a ‘tiger’. We as children, grandchildren and family were always in awe.

In all of this, Ana taught us all determination, patience to bear and to love beyond measure and words – right until her last days. She made a difference in many of our lives and for this, we are so very grateful.

A very special thank you and tremendous appreciation to the Parkland team. The pouring of your love, support and compassion for Ana (and her family) will always be remembered.

Family and friends are invited to Turner & Porter "Neweduk" Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga for visitation on Monday, July 25, 2022 from 3 to 7 p.m. with a blessing at 5 p.m. Funeral to be held in Croatia.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Watching Ana from afar during times spent with my friend (Tanya), growing up on Lynchmere Avenue resonates with me. Beauty, strength, and love, just to name a few. The last time I saw her was for brunch with Dijana. My father was not well. Through her expressive eyes, hand gestures, sympathy and laughter, she comforted me. From the pictures she showed me in her condo, there was nothing but pride illuminating from her eyes for her children's accomplishments carried down. God Bless you Ana. You did great work here, on this Earth. Rest in peace xo

Teta Ana was like my 2nd mother, she was a beautiful person inside and out. I will never forget the freedom of being able to run between houses and knowing I'd be loved and fed just like I was one of her own. I have such warm memories of watching The Love Boat with her, swimming in her pool, and in awe when she cut the crust off the toast for me the first time. She could never give enough, from meals, to cash for shopping, to Royal Doulton Figurines that I still cherish. When my kids found out this amazing lady passed away, right away they recalled meeting her in Pasman and her happily giving them money to go buy sladoled.

Teta Ana you will be greatly missed, we love you, and you will always be in our hearts.

Bob, Kathy and Dijana, our hearts are absolutely broken for you, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Love,
Tanya, Glenn, Siena, Ella, Lukas
