In Celebration of

Aloysia Marie "Lillian" Cross

November 30, 1923 -  April 23, 2020

On Thursday, April 23, 2020, Aloysia “Lillian” Marie Cross passed away peacefully at the age of 96 in Mississauga, On.

Lillian was born on November 30, 1923, in Stadel, Bavaria, Germany to Anton and Anna (Buckl) Schock. She immigrated to Cudworth, Sask., Canada in 1929 via the ship Dresden landing in Halifax, NS.

On July 7th, 1947, she married Harold Anthony Cross. They moved to Toronto, Ontario, and raised three children, Randolph, Gregory, and Maria.

Lillian is predeceased by her husband Harold and son Gregory.

She is survived by her children, Randolph (Wendy) and Maria (Tony Harrison-Edge), daughter-in-law Emma and grandchildren Sarah, Geoffrey, Adam, and Nicola.

Lillian’s career spanned 30+ years as a credit clerk and secretary at Glidden Paint. She was also a long-time member of the Catholic Women’s League at Transfiguration Church of our Lord, Etobicoke, On.

Of her many interests, Lillian had a passion for painting; self-taught in oils and watercolour. Tending her backyard garden and canning brought her joy. Lillian’s multi-layered birthday cakes with pudding filling will always be remembered lovingly by her family, especially the grandkids.

She will be remembered fondly by all, for her quick wit, her infectious laugh, and her kind and compassionate spirit. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted in Lillian’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. The family wish to give a special thanks to the staff and caregivers of Erin Mills Lodge, Mississauga, On.

A graveside memorial at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Woodbridge, On. will be scheduled in the future. Please contact Maria Harrison-Edge if you would like to join the family in saying goodbye.

My mother (Anna) + Lillian were sisters. My dad ( Russ Cross) was a brother to Lilly's husband, Harold Cross.
The family stayed very close over the years and didn't let the distance from Ontario to Saskatchewan challenge them.
The 2 sisters were very close and enjoyed travelling together after their husbands passed. They spoke the language of art together and encouraged the other to always reach further.
Lillian had a bright spirited laugh and always dressed in such a beautiful manner.
Lillian had a very soft heart and loved her family dearly.
Rest now in the peace .
