In Celebration of

Allan Maltman

October 13, 1935 - December 30, 2021

Allan passed away peacefully at Camilla Care Community on Dec.30, 2021 in Mississauga, ON. Beloved husband of Audrey (nee Burbridge-predeceased 2020), loving father to Tracy (Lance) and James (Liz). Much loved Papa of Neil and Hailey.

Dad's love of the great outdoors was central to who he was. For 50 years, time spent at the family's cottage re-generated dad. Starting the day with quiet time in the early morning, sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee and the radio playing quietly in the background, watching the sunrise, listening and watching for the loon families to swim by, starting the morning fire so everyone woke up to a warmer cottage and then cooking breakfast on the wood stove. Moving through the day, doing what needed to be done and then relaxing with lazy summer afternoons down on the beach or rainy afternoons spent on the porch. Family and Friends welcome anytime - the cottage is where mom and dad entertained. Horseshoe tournaments, Card and game nights, laughing so hard you would cry...sitting on the deck watching the sunsets and the stars shine so bright... making the memories that were re-told the next year, and the years after that. As the years went on dad and mom were able to spend more time there and disconnect from the city.
This was a need for both of them and the next visit was planned as soon as they returned for the one that just ended!

As part of those memories, there was a tradition at the cottage - the log book. The log book was a living history of the daily activities, events, guests comments (and always the weather!) when someone was in residence or visited the cottage. Dad upheld this tradition started by our grandparents - he reviewed the entries that were made when he hadn't been at the cottage and when there, ensured that every day, there was an entry posted. Dad was a journalist at heart and this was where his story was - maintaining the history of the family's time there was very important to dad...and to us.
So dad, don't worry...we will close the chapter of this log book for you.

We miss you.

Wishes for Dad - a porch, a cup of coffee and a lake... and loons. Can't forget the loons.
In lieu of a service we would love it if you are able to share a few words or a memory of dad or even time spent at the cottage. A picture is worth a thousand words and we have included a few.

We also wish to thank the staff at Camilla Care Community and especially the 2nd Floor Care Team for their kindness, strength and support while caring for dad during his time there.
