In Celebration of

Allan (Al) Arthur Leaver

January 30, 1943 -  September 10, 2021

Allan died peacefully, September 10, 2021, at Toronto General Hospital at the age of 78. He was a loving, supportive husband to Darlene for 46 years. Cherished son of the late Ben and Hilda Leaver, caring brother to Derek (Nellie). Brother in-law to Cathy (Bob), Debbie, Mike (Theresa) and stepsister Bonnie (Bob). Loving uncle to Catharine (Mike), Lisa (Owain), Chris (Jenna), Ashleigh, Mark (Tracey) and Sean (Cindy). Great uncle to Natalie, Calum, Joe, Gabriel, Honour Rose, Noah and Mason. Allan will be missed by his Uncle George, the Ashworth Cousins; Bev (Tom), Lindsey (Leo), Adrienne (Steve) and Barrie (Laurie) and cousin Bill Leaver (England).
Allan came to Canada in 1957 with his parents from Lancashire, England. He had wanted to immigrate to Canada just as his brother Derek had done. Allan graduated from Wentworth Institute in Boston as a mechanical engineer and went on to have a successful career in sales with his home base in Toronto. He was very proud of the company he founded, Process Compressors Inc., which he closed in 2002.
40 plus years of boating and cottaging in Georgian Bay brought him a lot of joy. He shared many happy times with family and friends there. He joined Mimico Cruising Club allowing for a great opportunity to meet new friends and navigate the waters of Lake Ontario. Winter boating found him on the waterways of the Gulf of Mexico in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida.
Allan was known for his great laugh and keen sense of humour. He was an energetic dancer, loved a party and frequented local luncheon spots with his buddies. He enjoyed travelling, movies, fine dining and the odd wee dram of scotch.
Many happy memories of being a member of the Ontario Corvette Club, feeding his delight in driving his favorite sports car on road trips and to car shows. He kept Darlene car proud. Really anything with an engine got his attention. At many Christmas gatherings Allan tried to be the first to play with the kid’s mechanical toys.
In February 2015 Allan was the fortunate recipient of a double lung transplant at Toronto General Hospital. Special thanks and gratitude to the TGH transplant doctors, nurses and staff who gave Allan outstanding care.
Cremation has taken place. A private family burial will be held at Sanctuary Park Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. If desired please consider a donation in Allan’s memory to UHN Foundation directed towards lung transplants. On line condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca
