Lila Fischer, age 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, 2022. Predeceased by her beloved husband Jozef (1988). Loving mother of Marta and the late Christopher (2015). Proud Babcia of Joseph, Carrie (Chris Johnston) and Tiffany, and great-grandmother of Carrie & Chris’s children, Callum and Everett.

Lila was born in Baranowicze, Poland in 1928. During WW2, Lila, her mother and younger brother (one of six siblings) were deported by the Russians to Siberia in 1941. She then journeyed through Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tehran and finally a Polish refugee camp in Valivade, a village near Kolhapur, India, where she lived from 1943-1948. There she met many of her life-long friends and created wonderful memories. Lila moved to London, England and lived there for two years before moving to Canada in 1950. She met her loving husband in Toronto. She was an enthusiastic member of The Polish Scout community of Toronto. A life well lived, loved by so many, Lila will be greatly missed.
