Aleyamma is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Pavoo (Sara), her sister Leela and her nephew Kim. Aleyamma is survived by her husband Jacob, son Jerry, daughter Jessica, son-in-law Ron, and grandchildren Rachel, Adam, and Adam’s wife Rayva. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings and their families –Achamma (Thomas), Mathew (Rachel), Mary (deceased Varghese), brother-in-law Joseph Poranganel, Jacob (Leelamma), Varghese (Ammu), Benny (Jo), and Joy.

Aleyamma earned her nursing degree from Woodlands Nursing College in Bombay and worked as a nurse for over 40 years in various hospitals in India, Saudi Arabia, and Canada. She retired from The Toronto General Hospital. Aleyamma and her family emigrated to Canada in 1969. They lived in Toronto until moving to their home in Mississauga in 1977.

Aleyamma and Jacob were founding and active members of St Mary’s Syriac Orthodox Church of Canada. Their church and faith were an extremely important part of their lives. Aleyamma traveled back to India on several occasions to visit family and friends. Additionally, she relished her trips with her family to England, France, Italy, Israel, and the Caribbean. Aleyamma adored her grandchildren, Adam and Rachel, and was privileged to see Adam get married to Rayva. Aleyamma’s last few years battling Alzheimer’s were spent together with Jacob - her strength and stay – until the very end.
