In Celebration of

Alexander Gordon Costenuck

April 14, 1943 -  March 25, 2020

After surviving a stroke in 2013, in early January 2020, Al was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and passed away peacefully at Cawthra Gardens LTC on March 25 in his 77th year, to be with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Al is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 46 years, Gloria, his daughters Karen (Max and children Kristina, Justin and Lisa) and Christina and his grandchildren Ryan and Katie, all of whom he loved very much. He will be missed by all who love him, family and friends alike.

Al was born a twin on April 14, 1943 at St Joseph’s Health Center in Toronto to Anne and Alexander Costenuck and is predeceased by his twin brother Allan in infancy. He grew up in New Toronto and attended Twentieth Street Public School and New Toronto Secondary School. Al then worked in the sheet metal and HVAC industries for over 35 years as a General Manager and Sales Representative until his retirement.

From a very young age, baseball was Al’s favourite sport, whether he was watching, playing or coaching his grandson, he loved baseball. He played in the New Toronto Baseball League, the Queensway Fastball League and until his stroke was playing in the Etobicoke Slo-Pitch League at the age of 70. He also loved to travel and especially when he could enjoy vacation time with family whether in a warm destination or at the cottage.

The family would like to thank all the Stroke and Speech Communications Staff at Trillium Hospital, Gracia, Steve, his physiotherapist, friends from 'Sauga Stroke Breakers and the Etobicoke Slow Pitch League for their continued friendship and support over the past seven years. A special thank you to his three good friends and his cousin Ron who visited him every week.

A heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful staff at Cawthra Gardens LTC for their continued kindness, loving support and the care they provided for Al during his stay there, especially during the last few months.

For those wishing to make a monetary donation, the family would like you to support Al's pool program 'Sauga Stroke Breakers' 'Sauga Stroke Breakers Program

I'm so sad to hear about Al's passing. As a child, I lost my father at a young age. I always felt that Al was watching out for me in such a loving and fatherly way.

Al, may you be at rest. Gloria and all the family -- may the impact of Al's soul continue to radiate in your lives.

The world will be a different place without you Al -- we'll miss you, and thank you for being such an amazing human being.

Love,

Avraham (Craig) Byers & family
