In Celebration of

Alexander Antonenko

August 11, 1923 -  August 31, 2019

Alexander Antonenko passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday August 31st.

Alexander was a loving father to Elizabeth (deceased), Annie, and Irene, and a doting grandfather to Jerry, Nina, Marianka, Evan, and Alex. He lived a long healthy life, starting out in his birthplace of Ukraine, being displaced to Berlin during the war, and finally emigrating to Canada on a lumber contract. Disliking the summer flies, he would escape to the mines near Timmins, ON, and then return to the lumber camps for the winter months. Eventually, he settled down in Toronto, where he married, had children, and worked as a metal lathe operator. His metal work was used in the Welland Canal locks, as well as numerous off shore oil rigs. After his retirement at age 65, he moved to his beloved house near Balm Beach, ON. His retirement included a very busy social life of dancing and cards, often with his girlfriend Sofia. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family will accept donations to the Terry Fox Foundation. Irene Antonenko will be running in honour of her father. You can donate on her page at: http://www.terryfox.ca/Irene4AlexanderAntonenko
