In Celebration of

Albert "Al" Birthelmer

May 6, 1936 -  June 2, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of Albert (Al) Birthelmer announces his peaceful passing on June 2, 2019.

Al was born in Hamilton, Ontario and was the youngest of six children.
Predeceased by brothers John, Sam, George, Martin and his sister Rose. Son of Michael and Rosina Birthelmer; loving husband of Gloria and father of Martin Birthelmer; father in law to Karen and grandfather to Noah and Sierra Birthelmer; as well as uncle to Sandy, Bob and Michael Birthelmer.

Al enjoyed golf and was a proud member of the Credit Valley Golf and Country Club for over 50 years. In the late 60’s and early 70’s, as a Chartered Accountant and Club Board Member he was the driving force in guiding the Club’s very survival and eventual growth via land sales and purchases Ensuring the Club established and went forward on a solid financial foundation.

He enjoyed travelling, food and wine and was ever grateful for the experiences afforded to him in his 83 years of life. Al dedicated over 40 years of his professional life to the trucking and transportation industry at Motorways, TNT and finishing his career as CFO of TST Transportation.

Given his numerous professional achievements and travel, Al was clearly happiest when he was fishing. He loved Ontario’s rivers and lakes and spending time with friends and family in many a tin boat patiently waiting for the fish to bite. He had a great life!

Enjoyed our conversations about cottage life. He taught me how a septic system worked, along with detailed diagrams!! Lots of laughs.
He was a great man and I am honoured to have known him and enjoyed his company.
RIP Mr. Birthelmer.
