It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alan Scott Mitchell. After a long and brave battle with cancer, Alan passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025 surrounded by family and friends.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mona Lisa, his siblings Denis (Barbara), Gordon (Nancy), Linda (Gary), his sons Andrew (Lana) and Tyler, his step-children Leonardo (Vera), Catharina (Arnold) and Helder, his 8 cherished grandchildren (Matheus, Maria, Anthony, Francisco, Joseph, Penelope, Estelle and Zoey), as well as many nieces and nephews and an extended community of family and friends.

Alan was a world traveler. Born in Asbestos, Quebec and fiercely proud of his home in Toronto, he spent many wonderful summers up at Clear Lake, and later in life found a wonderful and loving community at the campground in Orillia. After working for many years across the country and across the globe as a consultant, he enjoyed travelling in his retirement and exploring his creative side with writing and crafting bird houses.

Dad's happiest moments were when he was sitting back, surrounded by noisy family and friends, sharing a cold beverage and a laugh. He took great pride in taking care of those around him. He was always ready to share some words of wisdom, a witty comment, a warm bowl of turkey soup or a wee dram. He loved so many and was dearly loved, and we will miss him very, very much.

We would like to thank everyone for their overwhelming support and love during Alan's brave journey and in his final months. Our heartfelt thanks to Joanne Matte and the caring staff from Bayshore, and Dr. Mavrogiannis and all the amazing staff at the Dorothy Ley hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Dorothy Ley Foundation.

A celebration of life in honor of Alan will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Turner & Porter Funeral Home, Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. West in Etobicoke.
