In Celebration of

Adelchi "Dick" Liut

November 28, 1924 -  November 16, 2019

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our Dad, Adelchi (Dick) Liut. After living independently until his last weeks, this strong proud man has left this world behind 12 days shy of his 95th birthday. He was beloved husband of the late Lita Valvasori of Hamilton, Ontario, dear father of Velma Liut (Kelly Jackson), Anne Hayward (John) and Mary Ellen Hubert (Michael), proud and loving Grandpa of Erin Matthew (Colin), Tara Hayward (Perry Kirkbride), Marc Hubert, Lucas Jackson (Kaitlin), Blake Jackson and Eric Hubert (Laura Beth Wilson), amazing Bisnonno to Rhys, Gabrielle and Zoe Matthew and dear friend and companion to Patricia Scrase and her daughter Carole Scrase. He was the son of Giovanni and Maria Liut, and immigrated to Canada from Cinto Caomaggiore, Italy in 1929, at the age of 4 .Their family would settle in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario where he, together with his six siblings, Ines (Ferti Zorzi), Tony (Gloria), Angelo (Dorothy), Sue (Elio Marzetti), Evia (Emile Desaulnier), and Lee (Lorne Jarrett) made his way in the world. Respected “Uncle Dick" to many nieces and nephews of both Sault Ste Marie and Hamilton, he understood the importance of family and supported all of us in our various endeavours. He eventually settled in Toronto with his own family where he established his masonry contracting firm and worked until his 65th year. Despite long work hours, like any good Italian-Canadian he enjoyed gardening, bowling, wine and sausage making, hockey and his beloved Blue Jays.

Generous of spirit, along his journey he would gather and entertain countless cousins, good friends and kind neighbours. We are especially grateful to those good neighbours who kept close watch on our father in his later years. His strong work ethic and his kindness and generosity toward all, were his greatest qualities and are now his legacy. We will miss his stories and jokes.

Friends may call the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W. (between Kipling and Islington Aves.) on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 3-7 p.m. On Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 10-11 a.m. friends are invited to the Butler Chapel for a visitation with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow.

Our father gave generously to a variety of charities that touched our family. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

So saddened to hear of Dick's passing (though he'll always be "Mr. Liut" to me). He was such a strong and proud man, such a fixture on Berry Road, it will be sad to pass the house and know he's not there anymore. I think I spent nearly half my childhood in the Liut house and it was always a welcoming and warm place to be. He's now reunited with Lita, and leaves behind precious memories to cherish for his family. My sincere condolences to all.

Hi Mary Ellen,
This is very sad to hear this.
I have never had any chance to meet your dad in person, from my heart I admired him in many ways as we had opportunity to walk and chat about your dad.
I believe you are very proud of him.
He will be missed by all of you.
I hope that our Lord brings you and your family the much-needed peace during this sad time. My condolences to you and your family.
May care and love of those around you provide comfort and peace to get you through the days ahead.

Respectfully,

Thu
