In Celebration of

Zacarias Medeiros

August 29, 1936 -  September 19, 2017

Zacarias Medeiros, 81 years old, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada has peacefully passed away on Tuesday September 19, 2017 at 3:40pm, surrounded by his family, including his four daughters.

Zacarias was born in Povoacao, Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. He left his wife behind with two young daughters to seek opportunity for a better life for his family in Toronto, Canada. This was not an easy feat for a man who did not speak a word of English. He often worked two jobs at a time and saved enough money to bring his wife and two young daughters to join him five years later.

The family expanded when two more daughters were born in Toronto. The running joke in the house was that Dad 'does not know how to make boys!". :) He truly loved each of his four daughters: Carmen, Eli, Sandra, and Jennifer. He was also a loving grandfather ('Vavo' in Portuguese) to seven grandchildren: Johnathon, Raven, Alyssa, Zachary, Jaidyn, Jack and Ella. Zacarias created memories with each and everyone of us which we will forever cherish.

Zacarias missed his wife, Maria Ines, dearly after she passed away in April 2014 and he was not quite the same since her passing. He can now rest in peace and love with her.

Zacarias will be sorely missed but never forgotten and he will be in our hearts forever. He came from humble beginnings and taught us the value of hard work, love, respect and treat others the way you wish to be treated. He was a fun loving guy who enjoyed to laugh, sing, listening to Portuguese music, and enjoyed his desserts. Natas, anyone? :)

We will love you always and forever.

Dear Carmen, Eli, Sandra and Jennifer:

I am honored to have spent some time with your Dad before he passed. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Your Dad and I had a private joke, he would ask me if I knew who his favorite niece was. I would tell him "ME" and he'd say yes that's right. I would tell him that he was my favorite Uncle.

Thinking of you all and wishing you peace and comfort.
