William (Wasyl) Dupley WWII Veteran, of Mississauga, Ontario, passed away peacefully at Alexander Place, Waterdown, at the age of 99. He is now enjoying the presence of His Lord and Saviour Jesus with his beloved wife, Dorothy, of 62 years.
Born to John and Oksana Dupley on the family farm in Fork River, Manitoba, Bill often said he was born under a haystack. He learned hard work and a strong Christian faith from his father John, who immigrated from Ukraine in 1913. By the time Bill was sixteen, both of his parents had passed away, and he ran the farm independently for the next two years. In 1945, he enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces to serve our country in the Second World War.
After his military service, Bill enrolled in Queen’s University and in 1952 obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Commerce. At Queen's, he also met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Morphy (predeceased 2012). Upon graduation, Bill began his career with Simpson Sears in the catalogue division, and after 25 years, he retired as the National Manager. Sears moved Bill and his family all over Canada, and as a result, they saw Canada firsthand. After retiring from Sears, Bill ran his consulting company and financial planning business for another thirteen years.
Bill was a dedicated volunteer actively involved in his church and Scouting. He also volunteered with the Canadian Revenue Agency, assisting seniors with their tax returns.
Bill loved the outdoors and travelling with his wife, Dorothy. They made several trips in their RV exploring the beauty of North America. Their favourite campsite was Highland Pines in Belwood, Ontario, where they kept their trailer for over 30 years. Highland Pines became a place of great memories for all of Bill's family.
Bill had three children Bill (Susan), Catherine (Paul), and Eric (Louise) and was a loving Grandpa to his seven grandchildren, Matthew (Carrie), Heather (Luke), Nathan, Geoffrey (Alanna), Jason (Anna), Stephanie (Mark), and Jacob (Natalie). Bill was also Big Papa to his nine great-grandchildren, Ella, Devin, Jack, Makayla, Benton, Noah, Vara, Mya, and Alice. All of his extended family deeply loved Bill. He was always available to help and offer his advice. His family and many friends will deeply miss him.
In memory of Bill, donations may be made to The Red Cross Manitoba Wildfires Response.
