In Celebration of

William Douglas Proctor

October 2, 1930 -  February 18, 2020

Passed away peacefully with family by his side in his 90th year.
Survived by his wife of close to 63 years, Vivian (nee Gordon) and his sons Brady and Andrew.
Bill was born and raised in Toronto’s west end, the youngest of 6 sisters (Bernice; Elsie; Grace; Joan; Margaret; Millicent) and 1 brother (Alexander) and beloved uncle to 12 nieces and nephews. He attended Western Technical Collegiate Institute graduating in 1948 and then entered the aerospace industry as tool & die tradesperson.
Later in his career, as a successful paper & packaging industry professional, Bill and his family lived in several Canadian cities over the years (Calgary, Winnipeg and Montreal) and he was a Mississauga resident for over 52 years having resided in both the Clarkson and Erindale communities. In the early 1970 s, Bill led the Canadian market introduction of direct printed, fine flute corrugated packaging which is still evolving today for a growing number of applications and markets. During his packaging industry career he was also invited to speak and present at many industry trade show events including becoming a sessional lecturer at McMaster University as subject matter expert in Distribution Packaging.
His passion for sports, especially hockey was evident from a young age having played Junior C hockey in Seaforth, Ontario in 1949-50 for the Seaforth Juniors in the Western Ontario Junior hockey league. He remained a loyal Leafs fan watching all of their games up until the time of his passing (although he predicted the Leafs would miss the playoffs this year).
After retiring in 1995; Bill and Vivian fulfilled their passion for travel including taking several trips around the globe having established friendships with many fellow travellers from around the world.
A special thanks goes out to all of the PSW support staff at CCAC for having taken care of Bill over the years while he remained at home in Mississauga with his wife Vivian by his side. Donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated by the family.
