In Celebration of

William David Ward

June 26, 1947 -  July 28, 2022

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of William David Ward on Thursday, July 28, at the age of 75, after a year-long battle with cancer. William passed away peacefully at Trillium Health Partners Mississauga Hospital.
“Will” leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Linda, son, Chris (Andrea), daughter, Elizabeth, and grandson Benjamin, along with siblings Stan (Daniella), Michael, and Jennifer. He will be sadly missed by his loving extended family and most especially his four-legged loves, Maggie, and Tucker.
William grew up in Orillia, Ontario, eventually moving to Toronto earn his teaching degree. At Lakeshore
Teachers’ College he met the love of his life, Linda (nee Hamilton). They settled down in Etobicoke where William spent the next 38 years teaching at Humbercrest Public School. A self-professed “tinkerer,” Will always had many projects on the go and spent his retirement working on a multitude of
handyman jobs with his best buds. At last count, he logged over a million steps just going up and down the aisles of Lowe’s. His family loved to tease him for never sitting still. Even during the pandemic, he made of point of taking a daily bike ride through the neighbourhood. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his students, colleagues, friends, and family.
Friends of the family may call at the Turner & Porter “Peel” Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St.,
Mississauga (HWY 10 N. of Q.E.W.) on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, from 5-8pm. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, August 3 at 3pm. For those who wish, donations can be made to their local Habitat for Humanity.

It is truely heartbreaking to hear of Will's passing. He was a wonderful and kind hearted man, and I can't believe he's gone. Even though I was a child at the time I still remember when our families reconnected and the joy it brought to Dad to have found his long lost cousins. Extreme distance never weakened those family bonds and we'll never forget the kindness and hospitality Will (and all Canadian Wards) showed us over the years. Our hearts are with all of you, I know the pain you are going through so please reach out if we can do anything for you all.
All our love
Jonathon, Lexie and Josie
