In Celebration of
William (Bill) Walter Hall
September 24, 1932 -
October 16, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Hall. Bill slipped away peacefully at the age of 85 after a short illness on Monday, October 16 at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga.
Predeceased by his parents, Donald and Helen Hall (nee Tory), Bill will be missed by his devoted wife, Margaret Hall (nee Entwistle), and loving family: daughter Karen (Harry), son Trevor (Anne), grandchildren (Dana, Jeff, Jamie and Michael), sister Patricia Spicer (nee Hall), sister-in-law Eddy Entwistle (nee Eldridge) and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1932 and was a proud alumnus of Macdonald College in Montreal, graduating in 1954 with a degree in agriculture. Bill enjoyed an illustrious career in the paper industry, attending the Advanced Management Program at Harvard in 1977 and rising to become vice-president of marketing with Abitibi-Price. Bill’s business took him all over the world and his international adventures were the highlight of many late-night dinner-table conversations with friends and family.
Bill loved to sail and owned boats for most of his life, starting with a Y-Flyer racer at age 12. He was a long-time member of the Port Credit Yacht Club and served as commodore there in 1991 and 1992. Family lore includes diverse memories, ranging from the hilarious to the truly nail-biting, of the many holidays spent sailing throughout Long Island Sound, into the ocean as far as Nantucket and around Lake Ontario.
In addition to his love of sailing, Bill will be remembered for his passion for music, his fun-loving disposition and his strength of character. True to form, he faced his end of life challenges with courage and dignity.
A service for Bill will be held at the Turner & Porter Neweduk-Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. West, Mississauga (at Erin Mills Pkwy.) on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow at the Port Credit Yacht Club, 115 Lakefront Promenade, Mississauga from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or the Credit Valley Hospital.

And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by . . .”
