We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Bill on Friday, October 4th with his family by his side.
Bill was the beloved husband of Ellen, his wife of almost 64 years, at the age of 21 and she aged 18. Bill was predeceased by his daughter Anne (George), aged 33 years, and was a truly devoted and hard working father to both her and youngest daughter Lorna (Mark).
Cherished grandfather to Blair, Ryan, Angela, Jillian, Victoria, Hunter and Cameron and great-grandfather to Robert and Alice.
Born in Blair Atholl, Scotland in 1939, Bill was the youngest of 6 children to William and Isabella Seaton. Predeceased by siblings Alaistair (Rita), Helen (Al), Stella (Bert), Isobel (George) and survived by Jean (Archie).
Married in October 1960, Bill was a newly wed for only 10 days before being called up for his National service in the Royal Air Force and had to leave his new bride. He served in Bridgenorth for the Air Force police before being transferred to Farnborough, England, where he completed his two years service.
In 1967, Bill immigrated to Canada to build a new life for his new bride and 3 year old daughter Anne. He joined the Carpenter’s union and had a successful career that spanned over 55 years and the west to east coasts of Canada.
Bill was an avid gardener and took great pride in his floral and vegetable patches. As his parents did before him, he provided an array of vegetables for his family and neighbours who often peeked over the fence in conversation and curiosity. His knowledge has been passed on to the next generation who accepts the task of keeping his garden growing with honour.
Bill was also very adventurous and young at heart. He loved his motorcycle and was proud to be a co-founder of his Masonic motorcycle club. Along with his brothers he took lengthy pleasure rides and even ventured out to Calgary on his own for a 10 day round trip.
As a world traveller, Bill adventured to his homeland many times, New Zealand, Germany and the islands of the Caribbean.
Visitation will be held at Turner & Porter, Neweduk Chapel, 1981 Dundas St W, Mississauga, on Saturday, October 12 from 2-3pm, service at 3pm with reception to follow.
Though Bill will be greatly missed by all who knew him and whose lives he touched, we are grateful for the long life he lived and the precious memories he leaves behind.
