In Celebration of

William "Bill" Hildebrand

May 3, 1928 -  November 14, 2019

Husband of Dorothy; Brother of the late Margaret Boyd; Father of Frederick (Laurie) and Harry (Karin); Uncle of Heather and Bruce Boyd; Grandfather of Tyler (Laura), Cassidy, Jaimie and Jessica; Stepfather of Sydney (Jeneen), Philip (Meghan), Christopher (Lyne) and Susan Albin (Leca). Step Grandfather of Adam (Denise), Thomas (Leah), and Daniel Leca; Chris Jr., Sean and Sarah Albin. Great Grandfather of William IV. Great Step Grandfather of Logan and Owynn.

Born in 1928, in Ukraine, Bill immigrated to Canada with his sister and Mennonite parents in 1930, growing up for the most part on a small fruit farm near Jordan Station (Town of Lincoln), on Lake Ontario, in the Niagara Peninsula.

Bill got his B.A. at the University of Western Ontario in 1951, and his teaching degree at the College of Education, University of Toronto, in 1955. Most of his teaching career was spent as Geography Head in Etobicoke, 23 memorable years of which were at Royal York Collegiate Institute. He was heavily involved in writing numerous school geography textbooks; in educational TV in its pioneer days; and in the Geography Teachers' Association. He had a lifetime active interest in music and singing. In 1954, he became a lifetime member of the Queensmen of Toronto Male Chorus. For many years during retirement, Bill recorded reading assignments for the perceptually handicapped at PAL Reading Services in Toronto.

Bill's family would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the CCU nurses and doctors at Mississauga Trillium Hospital for the exemplary care and compassion they showed our father.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Bill you will be missed in so many ways. I am forever grateful for you being an incredible influence in your grandsons lives. Adam ,Thomas and Daniel will miss you dearly. Your quick wit and worldly experiences ,life lessons gathered over 91 years and guidance to help them to become the men they are today. Two high school teachers and a physiotherapist. I know you were so proud of them as we all are. You always made me feel welcome and took an interest in what was happening in my life and the family's lives. Every holiday you will be missed, but we will give a toast to you with love. Sending love and light. Rest in peace now. Love Sue xxoo
