In Celebration of

William Archibald Young Blair

April 23, 1927 -  September 1, 2021

Passed away peacefully at Erin Mills Lodge, Mississauga on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at the age of 94. Beloved husband of Joyce "Rita". He will be missed dearly by his children Beverley (Alan), Leslie (Audrey), Natasha (Frank), and Andrew (Michael); and grandchildren John, Anna, Ben, Lucy, Jessica and Kiera.

William truly lived life to the fullest, a mean snooker player, successful race car driver, downhill skier, and avid golfer who also happened to play the drums. Oh, and he could also fly a Cessna.

Anyone who spent time with William would have regularly heard his set of colourful jokes, traditional Scottish poems and shared in a snifter of scotch.

William was drafted the day after he turned 18 into the Royal Army Service Corps, completing his service in 1949 at the rank of Acting Captain. He also volunteered as a firefighter, built a racetrack in Guyana and was elected Master of the Masonic Lodge.
He had the privilege of shaking hands with Winston Churchill, playing golf with Jock Campbell (Baron Campbell of Eskan), and at the opposite end of the spectrum, having the notorious Jim Jones as one of his customers.

Family and friends may pay respects at the Turner & Porter Neweduk Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street W. (just east of Erin Mills) on Monday, September 13 from 5-7pm. A drop-in outdoor gathering to celebrate William’s life will be held at the family home in Mississauga on Tuesday September 14 from 3-7pm.
