Passed away peacefully on October 7, 2015. Survived by his daughter Elke and her husband Peter Kareckas. Loving grandfather to Michael (Sabina) and Andrew (Gehna). Cherished great grandfather to Abbey, Zoey, Ella, and Benjamin. He will be missed by his good friend, Edith. Wilhelm will also be remembered by extended family in Germany. His generous spirit will be missed by all. Wilhelm was a long time employee of Dominion Bridge, as both a steel fitter and a foreman. As a young man, Wilhelm was an amateur boxer, with a record of 82-8. He remained physically active his whole life, even swimming across the bay at the cottage well into his 70’s. Wilhelm loved nature; the north and especially the family cottage. His passion for nature extended into the planting of over 100 pine trees on the family property. As well, his extensive vegetable garden helped keep the family well fed throughout the years. His passions also included reading, especially science fiction. He was a skilled carpenter and handyman building bunkies and muskoka chairs, most of which are still enjoyed today.
Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane Subway on Tuesday October 13, 2015 from 5-8 p.m.
