In Celebration of

Vivian Prokop Mirchandani

June 5, 1959 -  December 27, 2017

After a brief illness, Vivian left us peacefully on December 27, 2017. Beloved wife of Jimmy Mirchandani, the love of her life; devoted mother to Heidi Norton (Greg) and Robyn Woytiuk (Fredo); daughter of the late Peter Prokop and her deeply loved mother, Annie Prokop; loving sister to the late Merv Prokop, three surviving siblings, Dave, Pat and Mel, and surrogate sister Joan Parker; kind aunt to Anna Crossley and Laura Stolar McNeil; best childhood friend of the incomparable Michelle Chuhaniuk of Saskatoon; conspirator in fun to Catherine Swift, Pauline Couture and many more dear friends; generous mentor to dozens and indirectly to thousands more through her mentorship of mentors. Down-to-earth Ukrainian farm girl from Hafford, Saskatchewan whose visionary leadership and brilliant accomplishments brought her the admiration and respect of Prime Ministers, princes and CEOs around the world. Small business pioneer strategist and turn-around expert at CIBC, where she won multiple awards and recognition while assuming major responsibilities from her 20s onward. President and CEO of the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF, now Futurpreneur) whose successes spawned global admiration and many replicas; thought leadership and hands-on direction of entrepreneurship summits, awards and programs, including at the G8 and G20. Respected CEO of Pathways to Education. Three-time winner of WXN’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women Award; recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, indefatigable volunteer and fundraiser. A graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program for Global Leaders, Vivian had a profound impact on many sectors, organizations and individual lives. She was always there when needed, and was often the first to offer to help a friend, family or colleagues. She saw possibilities where others saw obstacles, and was a true believer in human potential. She was uniquely gifted in helping people find their higher calling and best selves. Warm, funny, spiritual and generous, Vivian loved living, laughing, cooking and eating, and she did all those things extremely well. Her home was an open house of great food and delightful times for her family and friends. In Jimmy, she found her soul-mate and the deeply satisfying and joyful connection for which she had longed all her life. All are bereft by her departure too soon. Friends may pay their respects on Friday, January 5 2018. The family will receive visitors from 2:00- 3:00PM, followed by a service at 3:00. Turner & Porter, 2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto. Donations in Vivian’s memory may be made to Pathways to Education at pathwaystoeducation.ca

My dear Vivian - I am still in shock at your untimely passing my friend. When I think of all of the wild and crazy escapades we shared over the years I have to laugh. The many times we rocked the Haliburton Highlands at Swifts' Chalet, the innumerable (and often interminable) meetings with politicians, bureaucrats, businesspeople and even royalty to further the cause of young entrepreneurs in Canada, cooking up The Year of the Entrepreneur in 2011 and then convincing Prime Minister Harper to officially designate it as such, travelling in Canada and abroad for CYBF, and great social times together with gourmet meals, good wine and reiki, all come to mind as do so many more of our times together. Your personal courage, decency and sense of style and fun were without equal. My heart and my love go out to your wonderful daughters, Robin and Heidi, and of course Jimmy, who truly was the love of your life.

Rest in well-deserved peace Vivian. The world is a lesser place without you in it. I will miss you for the rest of my days, my dear dear friend.
