Valerie Ann Haddon (née Green), age 63, passed away peacefully on Thursday 7th February 2019, surrounded by her loved ones. She had been suffering from complications related to her diabetes, which sadly led to her passing away. Her adoring family are heartbroken she is gone but relieved she is no longer in pain and can be at peace.

Valerie was born in Western Hospital in Toronto, Canada on the 4th July 1955. She was diagnosed with Type-1 Diabetes at the age of five. Although the disease played a large part in her life, Valerie never let it define her. She was a fighter with a strong desire to live, be well, care for others, be happy and feel joy.

She is survived by her one child, Melanie Haddon, from her previous marriage to John Haddon, her parents Eric J. Green and Constance J. Green, and her loving siblings, Gail and Douglas Green. Valerie adored her family, as they did her, and had a wonderful childhood growing up in Toronto. She was fortunate enough to have a very loving and supportive, close knit family and their home was always filled with so much love, joy and laughter.

After graduating from Richview Collegiate Institute, Valerie attended the University of Toronto. This is where she met her previous husband, John, who she was married to for nearly three decades. Valerie was a loving, caring and loyal wife.

For much of her adult life, Valerie travelled all over the world living in the Middle East, Hong Kong, Europe and the US, before returning to Toronto. She was a devoted and loving mother to her beloved daughter, Melanie, who adored her dearly.

Valerie was beautiful inside and out, and was an extremely elegant lady. She always made everything around her beautiful - from creating a warm family home in each of the different countries she lived in, to her chic sense of style. With all of her family's globe-trotting, she would always tell her daughter that no matter where you may be living in the world, home is where your family are.

Valerie was a very positive and spiritual person and was a certified Reiki Master. She used her spirituality to care for the health and wellbeing of others, as well as her own. She had a deep-rooted desire to help and heal, and she would spread love and light wherever she went.

Valerie was a very brave person and always had a clear sense of self and her own values - she knew who she was and what was important to her in her life; family, friends, health, happiness, spreading joy and being kind to others. She was fun-loving, always grateful for all of her blessings, and sought only to be happy and well. She also had a cheeky side and a wonderful smile that shone brightly on all she encountered.

She loved being a mother and spending time with her family and friends. She was a keen bridge player and often played at the Etobicoke Bridge Club. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and a good giggle. She never said no to a dance or two in the kitchen when a good 60s-70s tune came on!

Valerie was full of so much light, love and gratitude. Her warmth touched many peoples' lives all over the world. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends, and will forever remain in our hearts and minds.
