In Celebration of

V.J. Francis

September 23, 1931 -  October 2, 2017

It is with deep sadness that the Francis family notes the passing of a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Valiaveettil Joseph Francis died peacefully at home, with family at his side, on Mon. Oct. 2, 2017. He was 86. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Thresiakutty Francis, daughters Daisy (with Daniel Gennarelli) and Desiree, son Joseph (with Carolyn Lennan) and much adored grandsons Quentin and Leo.

V.J. Francis proudly served in the Royal and Indian navies, notably on the INS Delhi which was part of the Royal Review at Queen Elizabeth’s coronation, and transported the newly elected Prime Minister Nehru on his diplomatic trip. After the navy, he joined Kodak India in Bombay which led to his transfer to Kodak Canada in Toronto in 1965. While in Toronto, he earned his Certified Management Accountant qualifications (now renamed CPA). He retired from Kodak Canada in 1992.

Family and friends are invited to the Turner & Porter, Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N of QEW) on Wednesday Oct. 11th from 6-9 p.m. and Thursday Oct. 12th from 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 1290 McBride Avenue, Mississauga, on Friday October 13, 2017 at 10 a.m. Interment and Reception will follow the mass at Assumption Cemetery (Tomken and Derry Road).

So very sorry for this loss of this wonderful man who made such a journey in life and contributed so much to this country and city in which he chose to raise his family.
