In Celebration of

Tina Vernhout

August 29, 1941 -  February 27, 2016

Our dear Mother and Grandmother, Tina Vernhout (nee Kistemaker) passed away at the age of 74, of complications due to a 5 year fight with breast cancer, on Saturday, February 27, 2016. She is survived by her son, Rik Vernhout (wife Kelly Dunne), their children: Chelsea, Hunter and Kai; and daughter Suzanne Vernhout (partner Alex Murphy). Tina is predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Luke Vernhout. Tina inherited a great love of life from her father Antonie and a strong work ethic from her mother Antje nee Douma. Tina was a social butterfly, and thrived on her scores of friendships and acquaintances. She took pride in always appearing her best, no matter the circumstances. She loved her home, and spent many hours tending to her outdoor gardens and indoor plants. Tina loved travelling, reading, and learning. She especially loved animals, including her beloved cat Wicket. Tina usually worked a couple jobs at once, and was deeply missed by many (after her retirement) from her several retail positions in Sherway Gardens (lastly Holt Renfrew, 1988-2005). Tina enjoyed volunteering at Trillium Hospital, Meals on Wheels, and with her church. Tina was a woman of great faith, and took immense comfort and hope in knowing she would be returning to her Lord in heaven. A Memorial Service will be held at Rehoboth Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, 800 Burnhamthorpe Rd, Toronto on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 2 p.m. As per Tina’s wishes, donations may be made to World Hunger.
