In Celebration of

Timothy (Tim) Robert Pickard

August 16, 1953 -  October 10, 2023

Tim was energetic, optimistic, and full of life. His passing leaves a hole in the hearts of his wife of 27 years, Grace, son Christian and daughter Ariana. His brother Kevin and cousins Ian (Jo) in England will also sorely miss him. Predeceased by his father Herbert Frank in 1995 and mother Pamela Victoria in 2015. Tim also leaves brother-in-law, Joe Zita and mother-in-law Maria Zita as well as many precious friends. His life was large, and many people were touched by him.

Many will agree that Tim was born to be a family man. He was determined to provide the best of everything to his family; no task was too small, no help unprovided, no favor undone. Tim’s devotion to his family is a theme that has been noted by family, friends, neighbors, and acquaintances alike. Tim was unendingly proud of Christian, Ariana, and Grace and always did his best to support and cherish them in their lives together.

After his retirement in 2017, Tim was able to make more time for his passion for golf and could often be found on the course with friends or his son. This hobby was preceded by his lifelong love for “footie” - a word he never traded for soccer even after 48 years in Canada. He was also loved biking by the lakeshore near home and enjoying the crisp morning air. Tim was also a voracious reader and could be seen browsing Runnymede Library weekly. More than anything, Tim loved to spend time with others, whether with family at home, out on the course, or with friends on Bloor Street. He was an incredibly friendly and sociable man, maintaining old relationships and continuing to add new ones.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Monday, October, 16th, 2023 and Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 2-4pm & 6-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Daily Bread Food Bank.

I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my deepest condolences. My thoughts are with you and the family during this difficult time. Tim was the lightbulb that would brighten any room he walked in. He could carry a conversation with anyone - about anything. He will be dearly missed.

Tim, I did not know you personally but one can tell a lot about who a man is through his family. I had the pleasure of working with both Grace and Ariana, and they are a great testament to the wonderful husband and father you were to your family.

Grace/Ariana, words fail me to express how sad it was to hear the news of Tim's passing. He will live on through the wonderful memories you shared and he will certainly be watching over you from above.

My sincere condolences to the family.

Tim was a true family man. There wasn’t a day that I saw him that he didn’t talk about Grace, Ariana and Christian. He was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was my dear friend and I will truly miss him.
Cheers Tim

Dear Grace, My deepest condolences to you and your family during this difficult time. I can't imagine the depth of your loss and the void it has left in your lives. I pray that everday gets easier and you find peace and comfort amongst friends and family.

the only comment about grief that has resonated with me all my life comes from an unusual source:
"don't cry because it's over,
laugh because it happened"
