In Celebration of
Thomas John Hunt
August 5, 1930 -
February 3, 2021
With saddened hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas John Anthony Hunt in the early morning of February 3, 2021 at the age of 90. Tom was a kind and loving husband to his beloved late wife Anna. Son of the late Ellen Wall and William Hunt. Loving and devoted father to his five children; Andrea (Pete Quinn), Maria (Michael Searle), Ellanna, Sandra (John Badali), and Tommy. Adored Grandfather to his 11 beautiful grandchildren. Pre-deceased by his siblings Margaret (Rydberg), Harold, Edward and Joan (Nichilo). Tom was a cherished uncle to many, and a dear friend to Dr. Mary Heiberg and Fr. Paul Hansen.
Born and raised in Montreal, Tom graduated from Concordia University and went on to have a successful 40 year+ career with Bell Canada. He was a devout Catholic and an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Tom and his family moved to Toronto in 1978 and following retirement in 1990, he brought the luck of the Irish to the Toronto Blue Jays, where he volunteered during their 1992/1993 back-to-back World Series Championships. With a passion to contribute to society, he was a pioneering force behind the Etobicoke Neighbourhood Watch Program and Etobicoke Crime Prevention Association, for which he received the "Outstanding Neighbour" Award. Tom loved golf, cottage life, basketball, and Florida sunsets. But more than life itself, Tom loved his family; he lived for family gatherings and especially the smiles and laughter of his grandchildren. Tom's favourite saying was 'life is good, it’s what you make it', and this is exactly how he lived his life.
A special thank you to Dr. Buongiorno and the incredible staff at Lakeshore Lodge Long Term Care for their outstanding care and support. Dad/Grandfather, we will miss your jokes, your laughter, your songs and your presence and you will be forever in our hearts.
