<div itemprop="description">Passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, surrounded by family. Deeply missed by his wife of 72 years, Norma (Peppin). Dear father of Thomas (deceased), Gail Moreau (Eric), Robert, John (Diane), Peter (Kathleen) and Michael (Diane). Proud grandfather to<br />Sean, Sarah, Anna, Dennis, Stephen, John, Kate, Tom and Tess. Delighted great-grandfather to<br />Will, Benjamin, Clara, Jack, Stella, Anna, Thomas and Grace.<br />Tom was predeceased by his brothers Huntley, Alphonsus and George and by his sisters<br />Anne (Walker) and Marie. He is survived by his brother, Dick Wedge.<br /><br />He was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia and raised in Miscouche, P.E.I., the son of a<br />railroad station agent. In World War II, he served as a Lieutenant with the PEI<br />Highlanders and the West Nova Scotia Regiment. He was wounded in action in Italy in 1943, and<br />again in 1944. He received his M.Sc. in Agricultural Biochemistry from McGill University<br />in 1951, by which time he and Norma had four children. From 1951 to 1953, Tom was a<br />research food scientist with the Defense Research Medical Laboratories in Toronto. He<br />joined Stange Canada in 1953, eventually overseeing its international operations and<br />retiring as Chairman in 1987. During his career, Tom served as President of the Canadian<br />Institute of Food Technology and of the Canadian Spice Association.<br />Heartfelt thanks to his wonderful caregivers at the McCall Centre for Continuing Care.<br /></div>
