Theresia Buchnea was born October 6, 1930, on a small farm outside Salzburg, Austria. She left us peacefully October 21, 2025 at Toronto Western Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. She will be sadly missed by her step-children, Alexander, Alan, Raymond and Doris and her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends from around the world.

Theresia left the farm at an early age for adventures in Vienna, Switzerland and London England, then left Europe for Canada; first to Vancouver and then Toronto. Theresia worked at RBC in Toronto and here she found many new friends and acquaintances. In 1981, she married Dmytro Buchnea and settled into family life on Henry Street. Theresia and Dmytro enjoyed many years together as part of the Henry Street community; travelling the world and spending time at their beloved Haliburton cottage, Cedar Alms.

In her later years, Theresia continued her active life after becoming widowed in 2002, spending time with family and friends, travelling to Asia and Europe, taking art classes at Haliburton School of fine arts, and finally, becoming a great grandmother to twelve beloved great grandchildren.

Visitation will take place at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., Toronto, on Thursday, October 30th at 2 p.m., followed by the Chapel Service at 3 p.m., with a reception to follow.
