After a lengthy illness, valiantly fought with dignity, grace and quiet resolve, it is with sadness we announce the passing of our dear Ted. While he will be greatly missed, we are thankful his suffering is over, and he is now at peace.
Beloved husband of Gail, and the late Jean, deeply loved stepfather of Don (Kate) and Darryl (Erin), and cherished Papa of Aidan.
Loving father to Carolyn and Barbara, and grandfather to Andrew, Cody, Christopher, Thomas, Ryan, and Scott.
Born in Sable River, Nova Scotia, the second youngest of 8 children of Douglas and Ruth Teal, he was proud of his Maritime roots. Survived by his sister, Beatrice, lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Ted was a gentle, gracious and loving man, always quick with a smile and warm hug. He lived his life with a quiet strength and resilience, facing its challenges with a positive attitude and determination. He embodied a life of kindness and tenderness, may those qualities live on through all that knew and loved him.
Music was a large part of his life, singing from early childhood until the age of 91. His retirement years allowed him to be a member of multiple choirs, the friendships and fellowship he shared brought him tremendous joy.
His hobbies included reading, particularly Westerns, and baking. He was affectionately known to many as The Pie Man. He was always happy to contribute pies to any potluck or family occasion he attended or share his technique and Nova Scotia recipe with others.
We wish to thank all those who supported Ted, and Gail, throughout his last months. Your visits, notes and caring kindnesses made such a difference and were so appreciated. We particularly wish to thank the staff at Sunrise Senior Living, Mississauga for their exceptional, compassionate care, both medically and personally, allowing his final months to be lived with dignity, respect, and comfort. We especially thank Alex, his primary caregiver for his dedication and devotion to Ted, and all those in his care.
