In Celebration of

Takis Vasilakeris

March 26, 1946 -  February 27, 2018

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our loved husband and father, Takis Vasilakeris. He passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the age of 71 at home with his family by his side. His beloved wife, Jarmila and his cherished children Michael and Venessa will hold him dear forever in their hearts. Without a large extended family of his own, his nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters in law embraced him as their own family and he will be missed considerably by all of them. His family grew once again when, against some odds, he found an unexpected relative quite close to home. Takis was thrilled to connect with George Vasilakeris and he valued the relationship that they developed very much. Takis also treasured his friendship with the Zlojutro family who will miss him immensely.

Takis was not big on material things so in lieu of flowers we ask that you donate to something he felt passionately about: space exploration. Donations can be made to the Planetary Society’s Planetary Fund at planetary.org/tribute

Takis was a great guy. He was the first boss I ever had at MDA. He had a hearty laugh that I still remember. I still remember his love of soccer and Las Vegas. He was a good man. I remember him fondly. Rest well Takis. To his family and friends my deepest sympathies.

Takis was my senior colleague. He was a good man and he was my mentor. I am so sorry for his leaving us. I will always miss his kindness, humour and laughter. I will always think of him in sunshine and light. That is his character. My condolences to his family whom he loved deeply. He spoke of his son and daughter with great pride and happiness. You be with God, Takis.

Rest in piece. Takis was admirable in his passion for all things he touched; family, space, soccer. Condolences to his family and friends.
