It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Dziadzia, and Great-Grandfather, Tadeusz (Ted) Wadowski, who passed away peacefully at the age of 98 at Dom Lipa Nursing Home in Toronto, Ontario on January 16, 2025.
Born on July 15, 1926, in Krakow, Poland, Ted’s life was a remarkable journey of resilience, courage, and unwavering determination. His early years were marked by hardship as he endured the turmoil of World War II, which saw him forced to leave his home and work as a laborer in Germany. But even in the face of adversity, Ted never lost his hope or spirit.
After the war in Germany, Ted met the love of his life, Pelagia (Pela) and they married soon after. Together, they embarked on a new chapter of their lives, emigrating to Canada alone to start a new life. In time, he brought over his family and worked tirelessly to build a future for his loved ones.
Looking for employment led Ted to Timmins, Ontario, where he worked in the mining industry and became an active member of the Polish community, organizing picnics and dances at the local Polish hall. His love for the outdoors was evident, as he spent his free time fishing, hunting, and picking blueberries and mushrooms in the forests of northern Ontario. His journey eventually brought him to Toronto and then Mississauga, where he worked for many years at Arrowhead Metals before retiring.
Ted and Pela spent over 25 wonderful years together in retirement. During this time, Ted developed a passion for gardening and found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren and family. His sense of humor was infectious, and he was always ready with a joke or a smile to brighten the day. He and Pela shared countless hours playing cards and enjoying each others company.
Ted was a man of strong character and an unwavering commitment to his family. His devotion and love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were evident in everything he did. His family was his greatest pride, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Ted lived on his own in his beloved home until May 2024, thanks to a wonderful, hard working and loving team of caregivers.
Ted is predeceased by his loving Wife, Pelagia (2019). Beloved Father of Richard, Irene (Tony), and Terry (Peggy). Cherished Dziadzia of Christopher (Kelly), Elizabeth, Aaron, Kristen and Michael. Doting Great Grandfather of Mathew, Emily, Jacob, and Madison.
His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. His spirit, warmth, humor, and unshakeable love for his family will be cherished forever.
