It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia Dorcas Eggerts, who went home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., in Mississauga, Ontario, in her eighty-seventh year.
Sylvia was born in Lahore, Pakistan. She later immigrated to Canada, settling first in Montreal. Life then took her to the United States, where she lived in New Jersey for several years. In time, she returned to Canada. Through every move, every change, and every loss, she leaned on her faith and never let go. Her strong and steady trust in God was the foundation of who she was. She walked faithfully with the Lord, trusting Him in every season of her life.
Sylvia will be greatly missed by her beloved children, Sharon (Wayne) and Shane (Sarah), her stepson Mark (Nicole), her grandchildren Shannon, Meagan, Leila, and Tara, her bonus grandchildren Caleb, Jake, Noah, Ray, and Lee, and her six cherished great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her brother Sydney and her sisters Cookie and Anna.
She was predeceased by her precious daughter Pauline, her beloved husband Raggy, her first husband Percy, and her sisters Audrey, Lillian, Noreen, and Lena.
Sylvia shared a courageous and hopeful journey with her first husband, Percy, who brought her to Canada and opened the door to a new life for their family. Together, they faced the challenges of immigration with resilience and determination, working hard to build stability in a new country. Through their perseverance and sacrifice, their children were given opportunities, security, and a strong foundation for the future that shaped generations to come.
The loss of Pauline was one of the deepest sorrows of Sylvia’s life. A mother’s heart never stops loving, and she carried that heartbreak quietly and faithfully for the rest of her days. Pauline was never far from her thoughts or her prayers. That loss shaped her tenderness and deepened her compassion.
The passing of her husband Raggy was another profound grief. She loved him dearly, and his absence was felt in the quiet spaces of her life. Even in widowhood, she held tightly to the memories they shared.
Through pain and sorrow, Sylvia continued to care for others with compassion and attentiveness. She also took pride in caring for herself. Stylish and well put together, she valued exercise, wholesome food, and maintaining her health. She believed in presenting herself with dignity and grace.
A Funeral Service for family and friends will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026 at Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, Hurontario Street, Mississauga.
Though we grieve her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with those she longed for and is at peace in the presence of the Lord she trusted so faithfully.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sylvia may be made to the Trillium Health Partners Foundation. Information is available at trilliumgiving.ca.
