In Celebration of

Susanne Watson

September 2, 1953 -  November 21, 2017

Susanne passed away suddenly in her home as a result of heart, kidney and other afflictions that she had bravely dealt with for 18 months.

She is deeply loved and cherished by her husband Cam, daughter Jessica Derventzis, mother Dorothea Englert, sister Andrea (Gary), nephew Alex, niece Stephanie, step daughter Lisa and other family members. All of us have wonderful memories of Susanne which we will always cherish.

Susanne was a truly beautiful woman inside and out, always very elegant and fashionable. She had a heart of gold for her family and her large number of close friends who all meant a great deal to her.

Susanne graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours B.A. and was fluent in three languages. She had three successful careers. The first was as a flight attendant for CP Air which took her all over the world in fine style. Her second career was as a French Immersion teacher at Millwood School in Etobicoke, where she inspired many of her pupils to excel as students and individuals. Her third career was as a homemaker, where she lovingly guided Jessica and Lisa into their adulthood.

She loved and respected nature. She rescued stray cats, fed the birds faithfully, and took care of all the wildlife that visited her backyard. She would start every day by doing the Globe & Mail crossword, carefully tallying the number of “look-ups” she had to resort to.

In memory of Susanne, please consider a donation to the Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Toronto Humane Society.

Susanne has been a dear friend (like a sister) for a few years. I met her through our Francophone Association, AFAF (Peel Chapter) in Mississauga. There was a small group of friends from that association who would occasionally get together but often keep in touch with Susanne. I grew very fond of Susanne, loved her charming & fashionable yet unpretentious loving manner. We spent hours on phone calls back & forth and met whenever we were able. I shall miss her terribly; her absence will remai a void in my daily life. Love you my dear Susanne!
Forever,
Bonnie

Dearest Susanna, my special friend and past roommate: How does one begin to express the loss and sadness of not being able to speak to you or see your beautiful smile.

Dear Cameron, Jessica, Lisa and family....I am sad to hear of Susanne's passing as I truly enjoyed her smile and conversations about teaching. She was a good lady, with a loving heart, who enjoyed life, family and children. God Bless you all, tell great stories, smile, cry and tell more good stories and enjoy the time you all spent with Susanne in your life. She would be proud to hear you tell those stories and memories. Love and hugs

Rick and Nancy Tamas (parents of students but more importantly, friend)

I remember seeing Susanne for the first time in the hallway of Millwood. What class and elegance! She was wearing black leather pants and radiated positive energy and purpose. We soon grew a relationship of parent/teacher as she nurtured and supported the learning of both of our children. (in fact, she told me that she scheduled our interview time at the end so we could have more time to talk!). I was so happy for her when she met and married Cam - it seemed like such a loving and good fit for them both. We shared meals, a glass of wine, discussions about books, phone conversations and ongoing support when challenges came to our family.
Although life takes us in different directions, and connections were not as frequent as we would have liked, we always knew that she was there and cared. Heartfelt condolences to the ones she loved most - we know you will miss her but more importantly, that you (as we) have been significantly impacted by loving her.
