Born on April 7, 1949, in Port Credit, Ontario, Susan attended Port Credit Secondary School and earned her Diploma of Nursing (RN) from Atkinson School of Nursing at Toronto Western Hospital.
She began her career at Toronto Western Hospital where she met her former husband, Richard Sims. After marrying, Susan devoted herself to family. Some of her happiest days were spent raising her children in their Toronto home and enjoying summers at the family cottage on Lake Simcoe.
As her children grew older, Susan returned to her nursing roots and furthered her education at Ryerson University and Sheridan College. She became a home care Case Manager, retiring in 2020.
Susan's true calling was helping others, a passion evident not only in her career but throughout her life. She dedicated significant time to her community, serving on the Board of Directors for High Park Club and volunteering for the Junior League of Toronto. She enjoyed an active social life as a member of her health club, bridge club, book clubs, and was an avid curler. Susan loved traveling and cherished time spent with friends and family.
Remembered for her adventurous and lively spirit, Susan had an extraordinary gift for connecting with people. Her loyalty, generosity, and kindness were unmatched, always ready to help a friend in need.
