In Celebration of

Stephen Schweinsberg

June 18, 1957 -  August 6, 2017

Stephen Schweinsberg passed away peacefully on Aug. 6, 2017, at the age of 60 years.

Stephen was born on Jun. 18, 1957 and was a lifetime resident of his beloved Eighth Street in Mississauga. He attended the University of Toronto and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Stephen was employed by Ontario Hydro’s Nuclear Division for his entire working career, prior to retiring.

Stephen’s laid back persona and sense of humour made him well-liked by all those that knew him. (He used to joke with close friends that he did his post-graduate work at Harvard University, after having been sent there to attend a week long seminar.)
He is survived by his father, Willi Schweinsberg.

Funeral services for Stephen will be held this Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Turner & Porter Funeral Home, Peel Chapel (2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, ON). Visitation will start at noon, followed by a chapel service. Stephen will then be laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery (2099 Dickson Rd, Mississauga, ON). A reception to celebrate Stephen’s life will be held thereafter at the Turner & Porter Funeral Home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Stephen can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada; Steve’s way of honouring his late mother, Trudi.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Steve's untimely passing. We spent many years working together. I remember the day he started in our group at Ontario Hydro, and we worked together until the day I retired. After that, I looked forward to seeing him when he was able to join our monthly get-togethers for lunch. I'll miss him and remember his quiet humour and friendship.

Good-bye Steve. For the short period I knew you, we always had a laugh whenever work got too serious. I wish we had kept in contact.

Steve was my friend and former co-worker. Although I only met Steve about 30 years ago, I feel like we'd known each other all our lives. We spent many lunch hour walks together around the downtown core, and enjoyed many, many meals together. Our visits after retirement were too few, but always a treat.

Steven had a wicked sense of humour and a sharp wit. His infectious smirky smile would immediately melt the hardest heart. Always very analytical and inquisitive, a perfectionist in so many ways.

Steve was like a brother to me and an uncle to our kids. We shared and confided in one another about almost everything, and Steve was always very supportive.

Rest now brother Shwisha. Be at peace.
