On January 6, 2026, Stan Mamak lost his valiant battle with Alzheimer's and vascular dementia.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Sue; daughters Eva (Mark) and Alisa; stepchildren Missy (Clint) and Aron; sister Sophie; nephews Michael and Robert; granddaughter Violet; and stepgrandchildren Willa and Mac. He was predeceased by his parents Josef and Aniela and sister Mary (Mirek).
Thank you to his friends of many years Hym and Wanetta Cheung as well as Pam and Harry Erlichman, and for their unwavering support during Stan's illness.
Stan loved the Toronto Blue Jays, going to the movies, quotations, music, especially old Rock & Roll, gelato, tennis, theatre, concerts, cross country skiing, and cruising. He was kind, generous, encouraging and intelligent with a quirky Mad Magazine sense of humour.
He was devoted to his family, loyal to his friends, conscientious in his legal practice of 50 years, and mindful of giving back to his community. Consequently, he was a lifelong Liberal Party member and past president of the Parkdale liberal association.
In keeping with his Polish roots he helped to sponsor the Konstanty Reynert Chair of Polish history at the University of Toronto, held by Professor Piotr Wrobel. Also, Stan was a founding director of the first Polish seniors home on Roncesvalles Avenue, Copernicus Lodge, and served as legal counsel for 25 years.
Special thanks to Stan's secretary, Iris Kerr. We appreciated his lovely PSW's, Melanie, Airah & Mirka. Many thanks to Dr. Nicholas Pimlott, Dr. Nowak and the team at the Women's College Hospital family practice.
Sincerest thanks for all of the love and support the family has received in countless ways.
A Funeral Service to honour his life will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, with visitation at 2:00 p.m.until Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto.
