It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Spiridon (Spiros) Trigazis, who passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026 at the age of 92. He is now reunited with his wife, Dionisia “Sia” (2022).
Spiridon was the devoted father of Mary (Nicholas) and Leonidas. He was the proud grandfather of Angelo, Natassia, Penelope (John Kyriazis), Tatiana, Spiros - his namesake, and Elektra. He was a respected uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Born in Kalidona, Zacharo, Greece to the late Leonidas and Stavroula, Spiros was the last surviving sibling of his family. He completed his secondary education (Σχολαρχείο) in Pyrgos, which was an achievement at that time and served in the Hellenic Army for five years, volunteering for a term well beyond the standard requirement. After immigrating to Toronto with his wife, he worked in the hospitality industry and later established his own business as an entrepreneur. His full life story is preserved and can be accessed online at the HHF Greek Canadian Archives.
A man of few words, Spiros was a gentleman and the patriarch of our family whose loss will leave an immeasurable void in all the lives he touched.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to his doctors and especially to his personal caregivers, Rosaline and Gertrude, for their dedicated care and for ensuring his final days were met with dignity and respect.
"What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others."
May his memory be forever eternal. Αιωνία η μνήμη.
