Sophie Krupa
December 4, 1916 - May 6, 2013
Passed away peacefully, in her 97th year, after a brief illness. Sophie was pre-deceased by Husband Walter (Waclaw) Krupa in 2002, and William (Ritchie) Tidmarsh many decades earlier. Sophie was also pre-deceased by her sister Victoria of St. Catharines, Ontario. Sophie is survived and will be missed by her loving sister Wanda Zinkowich of Thorold, Ontario; nephew Edward Gronski of St. Catharines, Ontario; Stanley Gronski of Toronto, Ontario and his wife Margreta; their son and great-nephew Christopher Gronski; Michael Gronski of Thorold, Ontario; great-niece Shelley Gronski and family of Oakville, Ontario; great-nephew Darren Gronski and family of Jackson, Michigan; the grand daughters of Mr. Tidmarsh, Carole Crompton and Joan Guevera and by cousin Karol Chowaniec and family. Sophie doted on young children passing by in carriages and strollers as she sat outside the Grenadier Retirement Residence on pleasant summer days, and she smiled broadly whenever a carriage or stroller passed nearby. Visits, pictures and video of her great-great nieces Lauren and Lily, her great-great nephews Owen and Keagan brought her great joy and a ready smile. Sophie had been a resident of the Grenadier Retirement Residence at 2100 Bloor Street West for eight years, where she was cared for with love and compassion for the entire time, and most especially over the past several weeks. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all of the staff at the Grenadier, and most especially to the dedicated and caring staff on the fifth floor of Building A. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of Jane subway, on Friday May 10th from 11:30am until time of funeral service in the Chapel at 1pm. Interment to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery.
