December 6, 1931 – July 30, 2015
With the love and comfort of family and friends in her midst and in the presence of her dear Lord and Savior, Sonya passed away peacefully at the the Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga site. She will be sadly missed by those who knew her and were inspired by her brilliant mind, her strength and her determination. Her full and beautiful life saddened only by the passing of her husband Chris Doscher in 2009. Married in the Kawaiaha'o Church in Honolulu on the 22 of February, 1964, Sonya and Chris shared a wonderful life as soul mates and will now be reunited in eternal love.
Sonya was an accomplished business woman. Early in her career she was Director of the Irish Linen Guild in Montreal. Subsequently she worked alongside her husband Chris, at P.K. Douglass Inc. Most recently, Sonya very proudly held the position of Vice President on the board of directors at the Park Mansion Peel Condominium Corporation #421.
Sonya is survived by her nephew Christopher Romer and nieces Deborah Romer Boisvert, Catherine Romer Milaire, Dawna Romer, Linda Denman O’Neill, Carol Jane Denman White, Karen Thomas and Ruth Meinecke. She is also survived by sister-in-law Darlene Romer and dearest friend Elizabeth Fry, daughter Christina Fry Fenton and son Bob Fry. Sonya is preceded in death by her husband Christopher Doscher, brother Peter Romer, and sister Penny Romer Denman.
The surviving family and friends would like to give their heartfelt thanks to her long time family physician David Rosen, and the Palliative Care Team led by physician Tony Hung who coordinated her treatment during her final weeks.
A service of remembrance will be held at the Turner and Porter “Peel” Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy. 10, N of QEW), on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. with visiting beginning at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sonya’s life.
Following cremation, Sonya will be laid to rest peacefully, together forever with her true love Chris in the Doscher family burial site at Valleau cemetery in Ho-ho-kus, N.J.
If desired, donations may be made in Sonya's memory to the Trillium Health Partners Foundation.
