Jaroslawa (Slava) Mysakowec (nee Trutiak) peacefully passed away on September 27th, 2022 at the age of 90 at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre. Slava was born on October 21, 1931 to Mykola Trutiak and Wasylyna Tomenko Trutiak in Debeslavtsi, Ukraine. During the turmoil of World War II the family fled Ukraine. They spent time in DP camps in Austria and emigrated to Canada in 1949. Slava met the love of her life, Stefan Mysakowec in Toronto and was married in 1956. Throughout her life, she was an active member in Plast Ukrainian Canadian Youth Organization and the Bloor-West Village Ukrainian community. She loved going for kava (coffee) with her friends and walking through High Park with her grandchildren.

Slava was predeceased by her parents, Mykola and Wasylyna Trutiak ; her siblings Irena Buyniak, Maria Czerwinskyj, Stefan Trutiak; and her husband Stefan Mysakowec. She is survived by her children Zenon Mysakowec (Natalia) and Andrij Mysakowec (Roma). She leaves behind a legacy with her six grandchildren: Stefan (Tina), Sonya, Borys, Taisa, Oleksa, and Ulana. She was also blessed with a great-grandchild: Maddison Mysakowec.

Visitation will be held at Turner & Porter York Chapel on October 3, 2022 from 5-8 p.m, panakhyda will be at 7:00.
