In Celebration of

Shelagh S.M. Stevenson

June 30, 1933 -  September 26, 2025

On Friday, September 26, 2025, at 92, Shelagh (née Quelch) Stevenson died as she lived: peacefully, without fuss, and on her own terms. Much loved by her late parents, Stephen and Kathleen (née Marshall); late husband, Jack; daughter, Melanie Stevenson and son-in-law, Roger Gillott; grandchildren, Emma and Eleanor; siblings, the late Fay and survived by her brother, Marshall; and many other relatives and friends. Beneath her unassuming manner lay iron integrity, a quirky wit, multiple creative gifts, a dedication to family and community service, and a talent for long and loyal friendship. We'll miss you, Mum.

Funeral Service will be held at Church of the Redeemer (162 Bloor St. W. Toronto) at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Donations to Doctors Without Borders or The Common Table (theredeemer.ca/alt/get-involved-alternative/drop-in/) are much appreciated.

Melanie and Family,

I'm very sorry to learn of your mother's passing. She was always so kind to me and I often think of her when in the old neighbourhood. Please know that you're in my thoughts at this sad and difficult time.

I remember my Aunt Ede (Edith Quelch-Stephen's sister) talking fondly about Shelagh and telling me about Shelagh's latest accomplishments and adventures. Shelagh was dearly loved by her Aunt Ede. My condolences for your loss. (Thanks for publishing her obituary in the Winnipeg Free Press.)

Here's how we are related. Shelagh's father Stephen Quelch and my grandmother Janet May Malcolm were both the grandchildren of Christopher Tatchell Winter and Caroline Leticia Taylor. Their mothers were sisters.
