Santa Antoinette (nee Giammichele) McCarron

March 10, 1931 - March 6, 2026

Santa (Sandra, Santina, Sandy, Tingy) McCarron (nee Giammichele) passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at Dorothy Ley Hospice, just four days short of her 95th birthday.

In her final hours, mom was surrounded by the love and laughter of her children; Kathy and Michael.

Sandy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Reynold (Ren) Thomas McCarron (December 2016); her parents Antoinette and Angelo, and her brothers Luigi and Frank.

Mom lived a charmed life. She grew up in Toronto’s Little Italy where her father was a popular neighbourhood barber. After marrying Ren in 1957, they made one of the great decisions of their lives, moving to 22 Renault Crescent in central Etobicoke. That home remained the heart of the family for more than 60 years and the place where they built a wonderful life and legacy together.

Following Covid, Mom moved to Parkland on Eglinton where she quickly became known for her sharp wit and natural ability to meet people and make friends wherever she went.

Sandy will be deeply missed by her children, Kathy (Rick) Gargarella and Michael (Tammy); grandchildren Danielle (David) St. Bernard, Alicia (Michael) Hastings, Patrick, Elisa and Nicole; and great-grandchildren Isaac and Kinsley.

Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the staff at Dorothy Ley Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Mom in her final days. Words cannot express how much easier you made this journey for our family. We also thank the incredible team on the 7th floor at Etobicoke General Hospital for the important role they played in Mom’s care.

Mom lived a long and beautiful life and leaves behind a family who will forever carry her love, humour, and spirit with them.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W, Etobicoke on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, 1415 Royal York Road, Etobicoke on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 10 a.m. Reception to take place at Lambton Golf and Country Club, 100 Scarlett Road, Toronto, from 11:00 - 2:00 p.m.

I was sad to hear about Sandy's passing. I worked with her at Eaton's and she was a mentor to me when I started there. I will always have those memories.
