In Celebration of

James Frank "Jim" Sandercock

October 27, 1930 -  July 29, 2022

With sadness, we share the passing of James (‘Jim’) Sandercock on July 29, 2022 at his retirement home in Mississauga at the age of 91. Pre-deceased by his loving wife, Maureen Sandercock after 55 years of marriage, Jim was a beloved father to Steve (Sandy), Doug (Nancy) and Jane (Adrian Ho). He was a very proud grandfather to Brad & Gary Sandercock, Michael & Dana Sandercock, Nick & Ian Ho and great-grandfather to Logan, Mackenzie, Maya & Breanna.

Born into a busy family of 5 children in Toronto, Jim was always a hardworker who followed his talents to become a skilled electrician. He was a site foreman on many large projects, buildings, schools etc before deciding to switch careers to become a high school teacher at Westlane Secondary School in Niagara Falls. A strong advocate for tech education, Jim also enjoyed coaching football, golf and girls’ hockey teams. Jim & Maureen enjoyed a rich and busy life - spending their time with family, friends, enjoying the outdoors camping, travelling and later, enjoying their home in Florida or visiting their son's cottage. Every holiday involved a full house of family, sharing love, laughter, food and the odd game of croquet or touch football with Grandpa as quarterback. A natural athlete, Jim enjoyed an active lifestyle throughout his life, playing many sports & games, but his passion for golf was unrivalled. He was a member of Lookout Point Country Club for almost 50 years.

Many people supported Jim in his later years but we’d like to recognize the team at the Village of Erin Meadows retirement home on Emma’s floor who have cared for us all over the last 2 pandemic years. We welcome your remembrances and support for the Alzheimer Society of Ontario [https://alzheimer.ca/on/en/take-action/donate] or the charity of your choice.
Jim’s life will be celebrated on Sat. Sept. 24th from 11:30am-2:30pm. Friends and family may contact: sandercockjm@gmail.com for more details.

I was so sad to read of Jim's passing. I have fond memories of your dad and grampa from my days working at Lookout Ridge as a housekeeper in 2019. Your dad was a man of few words, but he was always happy. It was a beautiful obituary and I learned about Jim's career, which I did not know. I know how much he loved his golf and was so excited when he had a game scheduled with family members. I also recall Jim sharing with me his old baseball photos. He was a sweet soul and I have thought of him often since leaving Lookout Ridge. Please accept my deepest condolences during this sad time. R.I.P sweet Jim.
