In Celebration of

Ruth M. Eastman

September 24, 1932 -  November 15, 2017

Peacefully at Trillium Health Partners, Mississauga in her 86th year, on Wednesday, November 15, 2017. Beloved wife of the late G. Vincent Eastman. Loving mother of Mary, Tara, Greg (Jeannine), John (Sue), and Peter. Adoring Grandma of Taryn, Kerri, Mark, Alyssa, Nicole, Hannah, Quinn, Caroline, Erik, Jack, Derrick and Tristan. She will be sadly missed by her brother Dr. John Willey. Predeceased by her father John Thomas, mother Irene and sister Mary. Born in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, as a young child, her family lived in Toronto (Long Branch) for a very brief period of time before moving and settling in Mount Forest, Ontario. Ruth graduated from St. Michaels as a registered nurse in 1956. She worked in a number of locations including St. Michael’s Hospital before heading north to work at the Inco Hospital in Copper Cliff, Ontario. This is where she would meet her husband, Vince, of 54 years (April 4th, 1959). After taking time to start and raise a family, she returned to nursing. She was a much loved and respected nurse of 24 years at Highbourne Lodge Nursing Home in Etobicoke, until retiring in 1994. Ruth always looked forward to her annual trips to Florida. She also was an avid swimmer and Blue Jay fan. The family is very grateful for the four outstanding years of care provided by the doctors and nurses of the William Osler, Brampton Civic Hospital dialysis care unit. Cremation has taken place. Interment in Mount Forest Holy Cross Cemetery. A private family Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary of the Purification Roman Catholic Church in Mount Forest, Ontario. A Celebration of Life will be announced in the new year. For those who wish, donations in Ruth’s name may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice.

I so enjoyed working with Ruth at the former Highbourne Lodge. She was very professional in her role as a RN yet she knew how to make us laugh.
She will be missed for the wonderful person that she was.
May your family experience the blessed peace and presence of Hod at this time.

Helmut and I loved watching you going to Florida each year -
your Dad and Mom (and later the dog, too) and all of you 5 kids.
Hilarious - and great entertainment. Vince mentioned to us, that once you were in (and stayed) in the car, he drove right through in order to avoid the lengthy process of getting you, and keeping
you all inside. There was much love, and when your Mom was ill, some of that love was then returned to her and gave her the necessary strength to fight that battle.
I am so sorry that both of your parents are gone now and hope that you’ll keep all the good
memories in your hearts, My sincere sympathy to all of you. Love, Gerda
