Russel passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 54 years, Patricia Jean, and his children Gabrielle (Paul) and Lloyd (Jessica).

Russel was a proud and loving Papa to Esther (Matthew), Zachary, Reegan, Julia and Lawson - and he will be remembered by them as the fixer of all things, their fishing guru and his unconditional love. Russel will also be missed by his sister Erica Saldanha, his sisters-in-law Lynette Leech and Rosemarie Noronha, his nephews and nieces, and his many good friends.

Russel grew up in Bombay as the mischievous second youngest of his family of eight. At the age of 19, he moved to Calcutta to live with his brother Bonner (Buntu) and family. There he met a 14 year old girl who lived in the apartment above and decided that he would someday marry her. Ten years later, after both had emigrated to Canada, Russel and Jean fell in love and were married. They shared a deep love for their children and grandchildren, enjoying both exciting vacations and holiday time together and everyday fun. Russel provided well for his family, working as a millwright at Lipton’s for 34 years. Russel had a generous spirit, often quietly helping others. He enjoyed hosting, and built wonderful memories with family and friends at their “Noronha’s Landing” cottage.

Russel also had a strong faith in the Lord. He was very active in the Catholic church, making strong friendships through their Marriage Encounter group and Knights of Columbus and was a leader in the church community as a past Grand Knight, District Deputy and Fourth Degree Knight.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Turner & Porter Funeral Home, Peel Chapel - 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga

The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 10:30am at Sts. Martha and Mary’s Roman Catholic Church - 1870 Burnhamthorpe Road East, Mississauga

Reception to follow at 12:00pm at Tandoori Flame Restaurant – 8150 Dixie Rd., Brampton
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
